Jesus and the Guys Charged with Indecency

The second bible story used in the Sacred Queer Stories project was the New Testament story about Jesus and the woman caught in adultery. Through a group-process of contextual and creative bible study, the bible story was re-told and developed into a drama play titled Jesus and the Guys Charged with Indecency. In this play, a bunch of young queer folk is arrested while clubbing and charged by the police with public indecency; members of the village court insist that they should be killed, but the judge releases them in freedom.

The drama film Jesus and the Guys Charged with Indecency was screened at the Changing the Story international online film festival (June 2020), where it received high acclaim.

Watch here theĀ introductory video in which Sulah Mawejji introduces the film and nominates it for the Changing the Story festival. As he puts it:

In this film, we use the story about Jesus and the woman caught in adultery to play out our experiences of stigma, discrimination and violence because of our sexual and gender identities. But we also emphasise that Jesus refused to judge people but accepted them the way they are, which is a lesson for us all.

The actual drama film can be watched below.
