Review of Sacred Queer Stories published by Reading Religion
Reading Religion, the online book review platform of the American Academy of Religion, has recently published a review of our book, Sacred Queer Stories: Ugandan LGBTQ+ Refugee Lives and the Bible. The review was written by Flora x. Tang, who is a PhD student in theology and peace studies at the University of Notre Dame.
In her review, Tang observes that
The format and content of Sacred Queer Stories serve as a remarkable example of academic research that centers the decolonization and democratization of a field of knowledge and its creators.
She further concludes that
the book’s experimental and community-centric research and narration style also contributes much to a decolonial theological methodology that arises from the lived experiences of everyday people in the Global South.
We are delighted to receive this recognition of the significance and value of the book's approach and what this has engendered. Please read the full review here.
